Harder to abandon than a sit, so it buys you a real settle.

Start from a sit. Hold a treat at the nose and lower it straight to the floor.
Slide the treat slowly along the ground, away from the front paws.
The elbows follow the treat down. The moment they touch, mark and pay.
Add the word once the elbows drop without the lure.
Lying down takes longer to leave than sitting, which is exactly what you want near a trigger.
